The Helping Hand Society (“HHS,” “we,” “us”) is the volunteer membership organization that supports Helping Hand Home for Children, a non-profit in Austin, Texas. This policy explains what information we collect from our members, how we use it, and the choices you have — including for text message (SMS) communications.

Information We Collect

We collect the information members provide to maintain their membership, including name, email address, mailing address, phone numbers (including mobile number), family details, committee assignments, meeting attendance, volunteer hours, and dues records. Access to member information is limited to authenticated members and authorized society leadership.

How We Use Information

We use member information to administer membership, coordinate meetings and volunteer activities, send society communications, and maintain the member directory.

Text Message (SMS) Communications

Members may choose to receive text messages from HHS, such as meeting reminders and meeting check-in links. Participation is optional and is not a condition of membership.

  • Consent / opt-in: We send texts only to members who have opted in, either through the prompt shown when signing in to the member portal or by enabling text notifications in their Account Settings. We do not send texts to members who have not opted in.
  • Types of messages: Informational messages related to society activities — primarily meeting reminders and check-in links. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.
  • Message frequency: Message frequency varies based on scheduled meetings and activities.
  • Cost: Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
  • Opt-out: You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by turning off text notifications in your Account Settings. Reply HELP for assistance.

No mobile information — including your mobile phone number and your SMS opt-in or consent — is shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We use a third-party messaging provider solely to deliver the messages you have requested, and that provider may not use the information for any other purpose. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties.

Data Sharing & Security

We do not sell member information. We may share information only as needed to operate the society (for example, with the service providers that host our member portal and deliver our email and text messages) or as required by law. We take reasonable measures to protect member information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page, and the date above will be updated.
