Text Message Program

Helping Hand Home for Children, Inc. is a nonprofit in Austin, Texas providing trauma-informed residential treatment, foster care, and adoption services. The Helping Hand Society is its volunteer service organization, whose members raise funds and give their time to support the Home. We send occasional text messages to Society members who ask for them, to help them keep up with meetings and society activities. This page describes that program in full.

How members opt in

Text messages are sent only to members who have opted in. There are two places a member can do that, both inside our member portal, and both require the member to check an unchecked box themselves:

• On the sign-in page at society.helpinghandhome.org/login, where the checkbox below appears beneath the password field.
• At any time afterwards, under Text Notifications in their Account Settings.

The box is never pre-checked, and consent is not a condition of membership or of using the member portal. Members who leave it unchecked keep full access to everything else.

What we send

• Meeting reminders
• Meeting check-in links
• Dues reminders
• Society event notices

These are informational messages about society activities. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages, and we never send text messages to anyone who has not opted in.

Message frequency and cost

Message frequency varies, and is typically a few messages per month around scheduled meetings and events. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. The Helping Hand Society does not charge for text messages.

Stopping messages, and getting help

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from us. You may also turn off Text Notifications in your Account Settings at any time. Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us using the details below.

Your information

No mobile information, including your mobile phone number and your SMS opt-in or consent, is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
